Much Needed Sun!

Much Needed Sun!

Ok, I'll just get it out there. I'm 34 years old. Whew! Ok, moving on.  I had never been on a cruise until this last week. I know, I've lived such a sheltered life. We got to go to Calica and Cozumel.  Of course when I say we I mean my side of the family, the Martins, and Mike and me.  We've had this planned for many months and it was perfect timing for our sanity to get out of the cold!

Cruising is the perfect way to truly vacation, in my opinion. You have everything you need right there on the ship.  Food, entertainment, shopping, gambling (if you're into that sort of thing :), and of course the pool!! The first day out was a bit cold since we ported in Mobile. I expected the whole week to be cloudy and cool, since that was the forecast. But my sister, who has more faith than anyone I know, prayed for nice weather for us. Let me tell you, it was beautiful! The second day we walked out on the deck and it was sunny and warm. It stayed that way the whole week! So of course I went and put on my suit and we layed out on the deck and soaked up the sun. My bathing suit of choice is a full piece bathing suit that hides all my many flaws. This one does just that. A great color to go with this year is yellow. I guess I'm just tired of going with black, or dark colors. I need some bright, fun color in my life!

We even put on tanning spray! Terrible mistake of course because the Mexican sun is Hot Hot Hot! So on day 3 being out in the sun all day in Calica, I chose a sunblock instead of suntan oil.  A friend of mine who had a pretty bad case of skin cancer told me her dermatologist recommends Neutrogena with helioplex only. This is the only one I use now. It's long-lasting uva/uvb protection helps you to stay in the sun and not have to worry so much about the burning rays.  Especially for kids.  Moms, don't forget!  I forgot one day last summer and still haven't forgiven myself.

So, needless to say I got the much needed sun that I was hoping for without suffering too badly for it. And I love my new yellow suit.  I'm making a particular goal to stay away from black this year :). More cruising blogs to come.
